Getting RickRoll’d

Have you been rickroll’d? Wikipedia describes it as:

A prank where a person provides a link they claim is relevant to the topic at hand which actually takes the user to the video of the 1987 Rick Astley song Never Gonna Give You Up.

Recent Rick Astley related events include:

  • On April Fools Day, YouTube intentionally Rickrolled 2% of its traffic.
  • The New York Mets put a poll online asking what song they should play during the middle of the 8th inning, the overwhelming response – Never Gonna Give You Up
  • My friend Steve in SanFran made this very in depth poll that made it to the front page of Digg.

Whenever I think of Rick Astley, I can’t help but think of my friend Ken, who similarly has red hair and a voice that is waaaaay deeper than you would expect. He’s wasn’t an 80s pop star though, and he isn’t in the midst of an unforeseen and bizarre comeback based on internet pranking.
